This 35 week (905 hour) program prepares the student for entry-level employment in a pharmacy setting. The course introduces the student to the roles and responsibilities of a Pharmacy Technician in retail, hospital and institutional settings. Students will be introduced to safety within these settings, professional liability, and ethics. Consideration is given to the fundamentals of emergencies, infection control, record keeping, safety and hazardous materials, trade and generic medications, pharmacy law, IV orders, anatomy and physiology as it relates to medication, and aseptic techniques.
